Weekly Update
We apologize for missing the last three editions of Stay Informed, but
are going to make it up to you with this special edition.
As important as it is to keep our supporters updated on our progress, we
have literally been swamped with work at endtheirs.org.
And, thats a good thing.
What it means is that we are growing at a phenomenal
rate. And,
the reason we are growing so fast is that we have a message
the American people can relate to.
The response we received from interviews during the month of March kept
us busy organizing the protest movement.
And, April began with a huge bang that broke every
record we have ever set.
Case in point. On
Tuesday, April 3, we appeared on the Bill Cunningham show out
of WLW in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Before we went on air, Bill told us he would give us 20
minutes to see how it goes. It went pretty well. We
were on the air for an hour and a half.
Before we finished the interview we had 500 hits on our
website. By
days end, we had over 1500 hits.
We totaled 3000 website hits for the week, bringing our
total for the 5 months we have been up and running to over
10,100 hits. For
the last hour of our interview, our phone did not stop
ringing. We spent
the weekend working to fill requests for copies of the protest
letter and literature.
In addition, many of the callers offered to act as
organizers, to distribute posters we have had printed to
advertise the protest movement, distribute copies of the
protest letters to others they knew, and to help us with
fundraising. The
last few days have also seen a stream of donation checks
coming our way. And,
that is a good thing too.
We want to extend a special thanks to Pam Stegner, host of
Preparedness Now on KCXL out of Liberty, Missouri. Pam liked our show so much; she rebroadcast it a second time
and third time during the three weeks following our interview.
We learned of each of the broadcasts when people
started calling in saying they just heard us on KCXL.
That was a pleasant surprise.
The repeat broadcasts of our interview brought us in
contact with more organizers and protest letter senders.
And, we got checks from people in Liberty, Missouri to
help us finance our fight against the IRS and big government.
Pam also referred us to other hosts and producers who
support our effort and will give us airtime to reach even more
people with our message.
Thanks Pam.
Also, on Friday, April 6, 2001, we updated the home page of our website
with a new section written by Donald
Iiams, the founder of endtheirs.org.
We encourage you to read From the Desk of Donald E.
Iiams, Jr. which is reprinted at the bottom of our home
page.
Opinion
How are the American people doing these days? According to CNN, we are living to work instead of working to
live. We arent
getting enough sleep and are retiring later in life.
On top of this, after the recent school shooting,
experts say we need to spend an hour a day with our
children talking about bullies and problems at school.
Being a lawyer, I dont put much stock in experts because I know no
matter what the case, you can always have experts
testifying on both sides.
But, I do agree we need to spend more quality time with
our children. But,
you dont just set aside an hour a day and say, Hey kids,
lets talk about problems at school.
It doesnt work that way.
The problem is, the government is working us to death.
We dont have time for our kids.
They are carted off to daycare centers and schools
where strangers teach them values.
In most families both parents have to work to support
the family. We
work on average 6 months out of every year to support the
government. And,
when we retire, we are welcomed with a tax on social security
and pension benefits. There
is something terribly wrong with this picture.
The American people should be prospering; not working
ourselves to death and spending less and less time with our
children.
Many Americans have bought into the idea that government can solve our
problems for us. To
those Americans, I ask, how many problems has the government
solved? And, how many has it created?
Are you satisfied with the return you are getting on
your investment? Because
if it isnt solving any problems taking half our hard earned
money, how much money and how many of our rights will it take
for the government to solve our problems for us?
I think most people will agree it is hard enough for each of us to solve
our own problems. When
government gets into the problem-solving business, it intrudes
into the lives of the American people and the American family.
Because the only way you can possibly solve peoples
problems for them is if you control how they act and how they
think. Our government is knee deep into the family values business.
And, it is using our tax dollars to finance this
venture.
I have always believed if you want to understand something, keep it
simple. The
Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution simply
guarantees the right of the people to live free from
governmental interference.
And, thats a good thing.
The function of government is to allow each of us to
live free from interference from others.
And, our heritage as a country recognizes the
importance and the value of individual freedom to the quality
of life, the right of the people to control their own lives as
long as they dont interfere with anothers right to live
free.
In an economy driven by consumer spending, it would certainly make sense
to empower the American people and the American family.
Money is an important source of power. And, we would
like to see more of it in the hands of the American people.
We would like to see mothers and fathers have the
personal power to decide to work less and spend more time with
their children. We
would like to see the American family strengthened.
Family is the foundation of any society and we believe
what is good for the American family is good for the country.
This is George Smith reminding you to stay informed and
stay involved. Continue
investing in your relationship with your government.
Because from everything we have seen, you will get a
great return on this investment.
